How Does Hypnotherapy Work?
Hypnotherapy basically works by targeting habitual habits that you’ve formed over time and reprograms those complexes that remain active at the unconscious level. It is believed that hypnotherapy addresses the patient’s feelings, thoughts and beliefs about a topic that is causing them to engage in negative behaviours. In some cases, we are replacing a negative coping mechanism with a positive coping mechanism.
What to Expect in a Hypnotherapy Session
The first action that is taken in a hypnotherapy session is to define what your goals and expectations of the treatment are. With the information on the clients intake form or via a conversation, Ghita will create a new 'intended and improved' program (script) for the client. This is to replace the old programming.
The process begins with you (the patient) being led gently into a calm and relaxing state of awareness. Once you have reached that state, then the new story will be delivered. Once the therapy has been reinforced, you will be awakened and you will have a debriefing discussion about how the session went.

Session Times:
- Sessions are between 1 - 1.5 hours depending on whether it is your first session: (Suggestability Testing), Hypnotherapy, Recovery and Debriefing.

The hypnotist cannot make you do anything that you don’t want to do. Basically, when you’re in a hypnotic state, you are relaxed and focused on what the hypnotist is saying, but you are still aware of your surroundings and what’s going on around you. Despite how hypnosis is portrayed in cartoons and the media, the person hypnotising you has no control over you or your actions. Additionally, you can break the hypnotic state any time you choose.
Will I be a Good Candidate for Hypnosis?
If you can identify with the following everyday natural ways of being hypnotised - such as driving home and forgetting how you got there or getting caught up in television or a movie (see list on the chart below), you will be a good candidate for hypnosis. If you cannot relax, you would be better off trying NLP, Gestalt or Time Line Therapy.
What if I Can’t be Hypnotised?Some people incorrectly think of being hypnotised as becoming unconscious; this is not the case. When you are hypnotised, your experience may range from deep relaxation to light relaxation to uncertainty about what you are feeling. All of those states are perfectly fine, because most Hypnotherapy and NLP techniques can be used regardless.
How Many Sessions Does It Take to Be Cured?
This depends on the depth of the issue and the will of the client to change. Some clients have good success with one session, whereas others require a few sessions to reinforce the first. Smoking cessation requires a minimum of 3 sessions for best effect.
What is the Difference Between Time Line Therapy and Hypnotherapy?
Time Line Therapy goes back to childhood memories. Moreover, normal hypnosis is usually about reprogramming adult behaviours a client would like to change, rather than regression.
